If you want to earn some extra cash, TaskRabbit is probably something you want to check out.

Well, this is not a work at home job, because most of the time you have to get out of your house and go to other people houses to help them get some tasks done.

But how all this stuff works? Is it safe? How much money can you make? and Is it available everywhere?

Well, all these questions have been answered inside this review.

What is TaskRabbit?

TaskRabbit is a company which allows clients to outsource any task they cannot perform themselves to verified taskers or ''Rabbits''.

It's also an opportunity to make money by doing some simple tasks such as cleaning someone's house, do some shopping for them or any small home repairs or whatever the clients need help with.

Here are some of the popular tasks you can do as a tasker!

Is TaskRabbit a Scam categories

TaskRabbit was founded in 2008 by Leah Busque and since then it has been growing and expanding to new cities month after month.

TaskRabbit is officially acquired by the furniture giant Ikea!

How Does TaskRabbit Work?

Below I explain to you how TaskRabbits works for

  1. The clients (people that are looking for help with their chores)
  2. Rabbits (Workers that want to make money)

TaskRabbit for the Clients

So Leah Busque created TaskRabbit to help people find workers to help them with different things.

People can use the TaskRabbit website or app to request someone to help them with their task.

When someone posts a task the TaskRabbit algorithm will start looking for people that can do the task requested.

Let's say you've have requested someone to help you fix your smartphone glass.

Taskrabbit will automatically notify all the rabbits who have profiles related to fixing electronics and stuff like that.

TaskRabbit for the Workers (aka Rabbits)

You as a rabbit will receive notifications whenever someone's posts a task that you can do, you obviously have the right to decline or accept the task.

If you accept a task the client will be notified and then you can start talking about the details of the task and the pay.

Once you finish the task, the client will be notified and you'll receive your payment.

What are the Requirements to become a Tasker?

Before you sign up for TaskRabbit you need to know about the requirements of the site.

Below you can read about some of the requirements that TaskRabbits will ask you for.

  • Be at least 18 if you're from the UK & 21 if you're from the US.
  • Live in the cities (aka active metro areas) where Taskrabbit is available.
  • Must have a U.S social security number (required for background check)
  • Have the required skills for the tasks you apply for.
  • Provide your real info (for criminal background check)
  • Have a UK bank account (if you're applying from the UK.)
  • Must have a smartphone (IOS or Android)

How to Work for TaskRabbit

Now that you know the requirements, it's time to start working for TaskRabbit.

The process is simple and pretty straightforward here are some steps you need to follow to become a TaskRabbit.

1

Register Online

taskrabbit signup forum

To become a tasker you need to register, simply fill out the form with the required information.

2

The Video Interview

You will have to do a video interview in order to be accepted to work in TaskRabbit.

They will ask you a couple of questions.

Don't let the video interview scare you it's more like an online questionnaire.

You can also watch the video above to see the interview questions in action.

3

Download the TaskRabbit App

If you're accepted then you will have to download the tasker app which will notify you about tasks you may want to check.

Within the app you can message, discuss the price and the place to meet.

You can work at your own pace, select your own hours and rates.

The TaskRabbit app is available for both Android & IOS.

How Much Does TaskRabbit Cost?

TaskRabbit is free for the clients but as a tasker, you need to pay a $20 registration fee (£20 for the UK taskers).

However, the registration fee is non-refundable and it does not guarantee you to be approved as a tasker.

Another thing that you need to keep in mind is that TaskRabbit will cut a fee from each payment you receive.

As I said before, the TaskRabbit payment fee is 15% for each payment you receive sometimes even up to 35%.

Is TaskRabbit a Scam: How much can you earn?

It all depends on how many hours you are willing to work and other factors.

But to give you an idea of the earning potential, there are some people that claim to earn $2000 per week by doing tasks.

However, I have read some people complain about the new TaskRabbit business model which affected negatively their earnings.

Anyway, the income potential at TaskRabbit is pretty high and definitely better than sites like Amazon Mechanical Turk which underpays their members.

Plus, the earning potential will also depend on the kind of tasks you provide.

For example, people that fix computers will definitely earn more than people that let's say move boxes with their vans.

But either way, the minimum you can earn with TaskRabbit is $11.05 per hour which is more than the minimum wage of many countries.

Is TaskRabbit a Scam: Payment Method

The payment methods offered by TaskRabbit are Paypal and check you can cash out once you reach $25.

If you request a check payment you can expect it to arrive in 3 to 7 days while Paypal payments show up in 24 hours.

Once you find a task you are interested in, you can submit a bid and if it's accepted simply do the required work.

Before you submit a bid, make sure it's worth it.

Sometimes you have to drive somewhere far from your house.

Make sure you don't spend more on gas than what you will earn from the task.

You can even ask your client to pay for the expenses.

Simply do your math before taking any task.

Once you finish the work, submit the task as complete and get paid.

The client does not pay you directly they pay TaskRabbit so when you complete the task you get paid.

That's an escrow protection so there is no way a client would cheat the tasker or vice versa.

A Quick Note!

Once you get paid from the client, TaskRabbit will get a cut from the deal usually 15% but sometimes it might go as high as 30%.

For instance, if the client pays you $100 for a task you get $70 and $30 goes to TaskRabbit (if they cut 30%)

Can you Access TaskRabbit Internationally?

TaskRabbit is currently available only in some 43 major cities in the US and 4 cities in the UK.

Here are some of the cities where TaskRabbit is available:

  •  London (UK) Los Angeles, Atlanta, Chicago, Bristol (UK), Denver, Houston, Portland, San Antonio, Phoenix, Greater London (UK), Miami, New York, Philadelphia, San Diego, Seattle, Washington DC, San Francisco, Birmingham (Uk)

TaskRabbit is slowly growing and expanding so chances are your city will be included soon.

TaskRabbit 2022 Review Update!

Now TaskRabbit is also available in a lot more cities! Check here if your city is available.

Is TaskRabbit Safe?

As I said earlier in this review, TaskRabbit does a background check of every single tasker this helps to make everyone safe.

But that doesn't mean this is 100% safe, simply use common sense and avoid anyone you don't feel comfortable with.

I have read many TaskRabbit complaints but never read something that involves safety. (Well TaskRabbit was hacked in 2018 and complaints went to the roof but that was an incident and now the issue is solved)

Furthermore, you can read reviews made by other people on Yelp. Plus if you use Reddit, you can find subreddits about TaskRabbit where people share their experiences and personal reviews.

Is TaskRabbit a Scam: Customer Support

A company like TaskRabbit that connects customers with workers must have an extensive customer service. Furthermore, they need to act as a mediator between the two parties in case any problems arise.

So, it is a good thing that TaskRabbit has a very flexible customer service They have a support page which might contain common questions you might have.

Furthermore, you can also contact them on their US phone number (1-844-340-8275) between 8 am to 7 pm. However, if you live outside the US then you can contact them via the chat feature on their Help page. Plus, they also have a contact form on their site or app.

TaskRabbit 2022: Ratings and Reviews

If you're interested to make money with TaskRabbit or your planning to use it to get help with tasks chances are you're curious about what other people say about it.

When I was reading the TaskRabbit reviews I was really surprised because I found a lot of negative reviews!

Another concerning thing is that they used to be a BBB accredited business with an A+ rating; however as of 2022, their accreditation is gone and their rating went down to B.

Is TaskRabbit a Scam BBB

Furthermore, their customer rating is very low standing at 1.16 out of 5. I read the TaskRabbit BBB reviews and most of them were complaints.

They used to only have 77 complaints in 2019; however, in 2022 they have over 233 complaints.

Below you can read some of the most recent TaskRabbit complaints.

I have also read the consumers' reviews on Sitejabber and I was also surprised about the negative reviews I found! They have a 1.9 out of 5 star rating based on 505 reviews.

Furthermore, 90% of the reviews are all from unhappy members!

Plus, on Trustpilot, I have found more reviews about TaskRabbit but at least here you can find several positive reviews. So on Trustpilot, they have a 3.6 out of 5 star rating out of 9,930 reviews.

I seriously wasn't expecting to read all these negative complaints which are a red flag.

I'm interested to read what you think about this, feel free to drop your comments under this review!

  • People need all the help they can get earning money these days.  It’s a global fact.  Joining a type of simple job bank like TaskRabbit could help with the challenge until steady work comes along.  I think I would feel frustrations too if I signed up for this service and it was not working properly.  Why pay for what is going wrong at TaskRabbit?

    • Hi Tidbury, I did not quite understand what you mean, can you please elaborate a bit? I think you’re referring to when the site was hacked? Or you’re talking about the $20 registration fee?

      Thanks

      Anis

  • I have mixed feelings about TaskRabbit. It is an awesome idea, but is risky. Just like working for Lyft or Uber, the risk is you don’t really know the people you accept tasks from. The customers are safe due to the workers having background checks done on them, but the workers could be put in danger.

Another thing that worries me is 11 years of business and most of the reviews are complaints. That really is a red flag. I can see if it was new to the game, like maybe 2 years old. There should have been better views with the company being rated A+ on the BBB.

    • Hi Mandy, you have a good point there, Taskrabbit exactly like Uber and Airbnb you need to use your common sense because you’re dealing with strangers all the time.

And yeah it’s pretty strange that an A+ BBB company has such big complaints.

  • Hey there Anis! Nice review.

At first, I wasn’t sure what taskrabbit was although I have heard about it through others.

Im always interested in multiple streams of income and found this review interesting and informative breaking it down step by step.

I will remember this for future reference because so far my country is not accepted by Taskrabbit!

  • Hi Anis…
I thought you did a great job on your review…I had never heard of TaskRabbit, and now after reading your review I feel like I know a lot about it… i also really like your use of color and minimal number of tabs…makes me think perhaps I need to combine some of mine or move them under categories. It is always great to see what others have done to give you a new perspective…Great job…! Cheryl

  • Hello Anis,

The concept of Task Rabbit seems pretty cool. The great thing about Task Rabbit is that the paypal payments arrive in 24 hours which is really quick. Awesome article by the way. Thank you very much for this great review.

  • Hi Anis
This is a neat idea. Although I live in Canada, some cities and towns have home business like this one. It is a growing field for sure, especially for retired seniors who are still wanting to do something worthwhile on their own timetable. Nice work

  • This is pretty cool, I had never heard of this before but it sounds like somebody who may want to have a part time job would do something like this. This post was very informative, thanks! 🙂

  • This is such a great idea, my first thought is UBER for a handyman but so much more. I learned so much from your review of Task rabbit. Keep getting the word out.
