To formally start this article, let's get to know affiliate marketing. What is it?
Affiliate marketing is basically an agreement between an affiliate and a business. With this partnership, both parties can gain their own benefits. We will discuss that later on.

Business - this party is the one that sells the products. Furthermore, the affiliate program will be provided by the business. That means, it compensates the affiliates.
Customer - the one who purchases the products of the business being promoted by the affiliate.
Affiliate - applies for the affiliate program to promote the products of the business. The affiliate will then be compensated by the business whenever a customer purchases the promoted products.

First things first, assuming you have built a website already, you will need to apply for an affiliate program. Once you will be accepted, you can start choosing a product you wish to promote.
You will either make your own affiliate links through the program, or it will already be given to you.
What are affiliate links?
These are the the tools you will need for you to redirect your visitors/referrals to the website of the business.
It could be in a form of a text link, widget, banner ads, and many more. Basically, you will just put these onto your website. Then visitors can just click on them.
When they do, they will be converted as your referrals. Whenever they make a purchase, you will then be earning your commissions!
Please do note that affiliate programs have cookie duration. Meaning, your visitors can only be your referral within the time period of the cookie life.
Once they buy something after that cookie duration, then you will not be compensated.

As far as I know, some affiliate marketers like to choose the niche that receive the most number of searches and visitors. This is to maximize their chances of earning commissions because a lot of people are interested towards it.
However, it is also great if you choose the one that really fits your interest. In that way, it will be easier for you to promote products since you have some kind of connection with it.
That sounds like a dramatic or poetic way to put it. But anyways, a niche is very important in affiliate marketing.
#2 Building a website
When you have already chosen a niche of your choice, you can start building a website. There are a lot of platforms you can use.
If you don't want to build one from scratch, there are various programs in which they can help you make one for you.
My tip for you here is to make sure that the webpages are attractive to look at. Furthermore, do not fill each one with so many stuff, combined with long texts.
This can make your visitors irritated and exit. Also, avoid complicated pop-ups. Don't get me wrong. Pop-ups are great to grow your email list and to have more visitors.
However, what I noticed is that some pop-ups can be a barrier for the visitors. Some will not even see the option to close the pop-up. This will make the visitors exit and we don't want that. We want them to stay!

I suggest that before apply for these programs, you must research about them first. Why? Because, I have encountered and some people also did, programs that will not pay you. If not, payments are made for a long time.
Basically, choose the ones that are trusted and has a good reputation. Also, a good indicator whether the program is a scam or not is the membership fee.
Remember this: ALL AFFILIATE PROGRAMS ARE FREE TO JOIN. If ever you bumped into something that requires you to pay in order to join, then you better avoid that one.
Another thing to consider are the affiliate products you will be promoting. Again, it must be in line with your niche.
There are a couple of factors that marketers take into consideration when picking products. First is the price and how much you can earn from it.
Second is how popular it is and whether the website visitors will likely be interested in them.
However, I will leave that up to you. Trust your guts and promote the products you know you will be earning money from. Also, you can change products if you are not doing good with one.

Before we start with this, let's define what a search engine is. It is a software that is designed to deliver results whenever a search or query is made by a user.
And example of this one is Google! On the other hand, the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the act of optimizing a website or webpage in order for it to rank higher on the SERPs (Search Engine Result Page).
To understand the gibberish words that I just said, let's have this simple situation.
You are on your computer and you want to know the best place to travel to during summer. So you go ahead to Google (search engine) and make search it up.
Afterwards, you will be directed to the results page in which you can see a lot of results. Normally, people would click on the first result, right?
Maybe you didn't know, the results are displayed based on their SEO rank. Being on the first rank will increase your page visits and of course, exposure.
This will lead to more traffic or visitors. That is your aim when you do SEO work.

When you are accepted in an affiliate program, most of the time, you will have access to your own dashboard. Furthermore, it has several features.
Some of them will show you your progress such as your page visits and your income. It is very important for you to keep track of your progress so that you will know which part needs improvement.
In this way, you can keep on becoming better.

I have come across people stating that affiliate marketing is a scam. It is a bit funny to me. But then, I realized what made them say this.
Most of the time, these are people who tried out affiliate marketing. Furthermore, some of them paid money for training programs and systems to help them.
However, they ended up earning nothing. Why? Because they treated affiliate marketing in a wrong way!
You see, affiliate marketing is not a short cut or a fast method of earning money. Even the most successful affiliate marketers out there, took a long time to be where they are right now.
